Despite coming from a challenging disadvantaged background, I have come to learn that I can have a better life through my own hard work and service, but also through the blessings of others. After graduating high school in 2009, with little to no money or support to further my education, I was forced to enter the workforce earning below minimum wage doing babysitting jobs. With this money I received from babysitting I was able to enroll myself in a three-month Computer Literacy Course held in the evenings. I was then prompted to take some time off and serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Ghana, Africa. It changed me and was such a blessing in my life. Upon returning home from my mission I was blessed with accommodation and food at a Girls School Hostel in exchange for me doing shift work to assist the students that live in the hostel, and I have been able to work for a small income and use that money to study correspondence through BYU Idaho’s online program called Pathway Connect and put myself through driving school.
Despite my financial challenges I am still setting my goals high so that my future can change for the better. The assistance I am receiving through a study scholarship with BEF will aid me in realizing my vision of becoming a business owner. Becoming a qualified nail and beauty technician is my passion and dream. My goal is to open my own beauty spa. Your financial assistance is greatly helping to accelerate the realization of my dream as I now do not need to wait many years to gain the skills needed for this.
Thank you for all your hard work and sacrifice, and for BEF’s willingness to assist.
